Passport for Host Families
Passport partners with Laurel families to host exchange students while they are attending Laurel School. If you are considering being a host family, we want you to know that Laurel is behind you every step of the way. Our efforts to enhance global cultural competence at Laurel are not possible without your involvement and we value your important contribution.
As a host family you will be providing a home for a student who is far away from her real home. While the student will have a rich educational experience at Laurel, she will also experience homesickness, language/cultural barriers, and the stress that anyone has in becoming situated to a new environment. The host family provides a caring environment that helps the student work through these issues so that she can have the very best experience while she is in our collective care.
In becoming a host family you are offering the security of your home for lodging, meals, and safe transportation. All Laurel exchange students will pay for their medical needs, clothing, educational expenses, and significant travel expenses. Laurel will provide each host family with two “Extended Families” for support. If you are interested in becoming a host family, please fill out the application form attached below and Laurel’s Passport Coordinator will contact you with more information.
