Internships

Internships are for students who have identified an area of professional interest they would like to explore and in which they want to gain valuable experience OR for students who want to explore an area of professional interest in advance of college to help them make better college program decisions.

Each internship involves:

  • Researching the organization in order to describe:
    1. how the organization stays in existence (revenue/expenses)
    2. who the clients are
    3. what the similar organizations are in nearby markets
  • Working with the on-site internship supervisor and Laurel's Director of Strategic Programming to identify a “Scope of work” (generally in the neighborhood of 60 hours total)
  • Producing Interim feedback describing the work accomplished, strengths and weaknesses of her performance and of the assistantship itself
  • creating a multimedia presentation on what the internship entailed; the presentation will be made to a public forum at the conclusion of the experience
