Performing Arts
Middle School students can participate in the following activities:
Fifth and Sixth Grade Drama Ensemble Treva Offutt
Drama ensemble provides students in the fifth and sixth grades with the opportunity to work on and perform a play. Rehearsals are after school three days during the week in the fall semester. Students rehearse lines, work on the stage crew and learn about producing a show. They give a performance of the play in the fall.
Fifth and Sixth Grade Orchestra Rebecca Dina
In an ensemble, students learn to play in various key and time signatures, and they learn to produce a pleasing tone through breathing and bowing exercises. The independence required in ensemble playing improves each student?s ability to read music. The students learn to play folk, classical, and popular music. This group is open to all fifth and sixth grade students who play an orchestral instrument. The Orchestra will perform on Performing Arts Nights and during selected assemblies throughout the school year. The group will rehearse after school on Mondays from 3:30-4:30 in the Kulas Room.
Seventh and Eighth Grade Performing Arts Production Katie Strong
Seventh and eighth graders rehearse and perform a play. Rehearsals are after school, and the production is in early May.
Voices of Laurel Barb Lang
An after-school singing and dancing club for fifth and sixth grade girls. They meet on Wednesdays at 3:30 to 4:25 in the Kulas Room. A snack is served and then we work on challenging choral repertoire and one choreographed selection. This group leads Assembly music and sings in concerts and other school events.
