Science

The Middle School science content is a grounded extension of the State of Ohio and National Science Education Standards in the areas of life, physical, and earth and space sciences, and includes teaching approaches that use technology, inquiry and investigations in all branches of science.

Students participate in hands-on activities in collaborative small group settings, which allow them to identify meaningful questions, employ a wide range of process skills, engage in focused observation and analytical investigations, hypothesize to explain data, and use critical thinking skills for data analysis.

Student interest allows the opportunity for independent projects and long-term experiments that address individual questions and inquiries, and science learning that is applied to contemporary technological and global issues.

The outdoor classroom at Butler Campus encourages students to develop a strong curiosity about nature and the all-girls environment at Laurel gives each girl the chance for positive support in all areas of science.
