Physical Education

The Primary Physical Education program emphasizes the refinement and development of fundamental motor skills into more complex and specialized movements. Students explore the elements of force, flow, time, and space as they learn to move at different levels and in different directions, using varying pathways and speeds.

Beginning in Kindergarten and continuing through Second Grade, girls are introduced to a wide variety of games and activities that encourage fitness, specific skill development, self- inquiry, confidence, cooperation, teamwork and consideration for others.

At the Third and Fourth grade levels, the program's main emphasis is the refinement and mastery of specific sports and motor skills. Through skill practice, and a variety of games, the girls learn basic rules and vocabulary specific to soccer, volleyball, basketball, gymnastics, softball, track and long-distance running.

A recent addition to the program is the use of cooperative games and challenges to prepare the girls for the Project Adventure low elements challenge course on our Butler Campus.
