About the coach…

Mary Castiglione is in her fifth year as the Head Coach of the Laurel Swim Team. Prior to coaching at Laurel, Mary coached for 12 years at Solon High School, both as the middle school head coach and the high school assistant coach.  In those twelve seasons, Solon's high school teams consistently ranked in the top ten at the state level (girl's have been as high as 6th in Division 1) and have won or shared the Western Reserve Conference title the last five years.  She has coached both state qualifiers and state champions in Division 1 swimming in Ohio. Mary also coached age group swimmers for the Solon Stars Swim Club (12 years) and has had many of those age groupers represent the Stars at State, National, and International levels.
In her tenure at Laurel, Mary has taken the team to a 3rd place finish at Sectionals and a 11th place finish at Districts in Division 2 and coached swimmers to the OHSAA State tournament in the last 3 seasons.  She has also had Laurel swimmers set new team records in the 100 Butterfly and 200IM.  She hopes to continue to develop Laurel's swimming into a top program in Northeast Ohio.
