Thanks to the generosity of the Laurel School community, the Annual Fund supports the operating budget of the school in an important way. The Annual Fund works hand-in-hand with the school's $37 million endowment and funds 9% of the operating budget on an annual basis.
However, Laurel's Annual Fund is more than dollars; it is a tradition that undergirds the entire institution by involving alumnae, parents, parents of alumnae, grandparents, friends, faculty, staff and foundations in meaningful and direct support of our students. It is a community project, repeated every year, that depends upon nearly 200 volunteers for its amazing success.
Begun as an Alumnae Fund in 1950, the Annual Fund now unifies members of all constituencies in the success of every student. Laurel is particularly proud of the high rate of participation by members of all constituencies. Through the years, Laurel has set the standard for participation, particularly by alumnae and parents, far exceeding the national averages.
The 2006-07 Annual Fund surpassed its goal through the generous contributions of nearly 2,000 donors, reaching a new milestone in annual giving. For the second year in a row, the Annual Fund secured over $1 million for the current operations of the school. Thanks a million to all who participated in this remarkable achievement!
