The Power of Prentiss / Leadership in Annual Giving
More than 100 years later, what Jennie Warren Prentiss said so prophetically in 1896, "Laurel concerns not alone what a woman should know, but preeminently, what a woman should be," continues to be the foundation of Laurel School.
Thanks to strong leadership exhibited by the administration and the Board of Trustees, Laurel School has built upon the foundations that Jennie Prentiss established more than a century ago, providing unparalleled education and life experiences to thousands of young women. To honor her and those who keep her vision alive through their generosity, Laurel School created the Prentiss Society in 1976. Each year donors who make a gift of $1,000 or more to the Annual Fund are welcomed into the Prentiss Society.
Last year the 2010-2011 Laurel School Annual Fund raised $1,053,441! Leadership gifts from Prentiss Society Members accounted for nearly 81%, or $847,237 of that total. The Power of Prentiss Society gifts on the life of the school is unmistakable!
Membership in the Prentiss Society benefits Laurel School far beyond the contributed dollars. Through their gifts, members affirm their dedication to and confidence in Laurel, a powerful statement that can inspire others to make a significant, unrestricted gift to the school.
Prentiss Society members enjoy a number of unique benefits that honor their special place within the Laurel community. Among these is the annual Prentiss Society event, where members have an opportunity to spend an enjoyable time with Laurel friends, share ideas with the school's leadership and celebrate their connection to Laurel School. Members also receive invitations to Laurel events and programs, special listing in the Annual Report and an exclusive Prentiss Society bulletin to keep members updated on Laurel happenings.
