Dr. Jessie Sun Tackles Importance of STEAM/STEM for Girls in Cleveland Magazine Ask the Expert Piece

A recent Cleveland Magazine Ask the Expert piece posed the question, "Why is STEAM/STEM at school so important for girls?"
Dr. Jessie Sun, Director of STEAM Engagement and Upper School Science Teacher at Laurel, answered by stating, "What we focus on here [at Laurel] is empowering girls to feel confident, to problem-solve, fail and keep going. We want them to fail - that’s what problem solving is. STEM/STEAM is about exploring." She went on to state that, "STEM/STEAM is powerful because the problem-solving skills are ubiquitous. They can be used in any framework because they are life skills.” Click here to read Dr. Sun's expert answer in its entirety.
