Upper School’s JustWrite Team Scores Big at States

Congratulations to Laurel's JustWrite team, which competed with 300 area students in this year's State Tournament on May 20. With a 1st place finish for Division 1 for Grades 9-10, and multiple individual awards, the Laurel team had a stellar performance.

Individual awards include:

Division 1

3rd place - Kareen Hurns ‘27

8th place - Ana Rubio-Calvillo ‘27

13th place - Hazel Segal ‘27

Division 2

6th place - Eva Ko ‘25

14th place - Claire Sheeler ‘25

Special congratulations go to Hazel Segal, who also won the Director's Choice Award for a story she wrote at the regional tournament in December. Only three of these awards are given to this age group each year! In addition, Ana Rubio-Calvillo received the Poetry Award, which is only given once each year and is judged by a specially chosen poet laureate.
