Laurel Swimmers Have Successful Season
Laurel swimmers have had a successful season thus far. On January 7, the swimming and diving team competed at Baldwin Wallace and achieved impressive results. Elizabeth Matsievich ‘29 placed 1st in the 500 freestyle with a PR and is currently ranked 30th in the state among Division II girls.
Elizabeth also placed 1st in the 100 backstroke with a PR and was on the 3rd-place 200 medley relay and 3rd-place 400 freestyle relay. The team had many 3rd, 4th, and 5th place finishes at the meet.
On January 21, the team competed at Rocky River. Some highlights include a season best in the 100 free by Eliana Fieldman ‘27. Julia Fox ‘27 took 2nd in the diving competition and Tatum Stratman '29 also had a big night, first anchoring the 4th place 200 Medley Relay with her first-ever under 30-second 50 free, then going 29.72 and placing 5th in the 50 free.
