Study by Claire Witalec '28 and Rich Kawolics published in NSDA's Rostrum Magazine
Claire Witalec ’28 recently published a study titled “Competing Standards Revisited” (page 36) in the National Speech and Debate Association's Rostrum Magazine. Claire worked with Rich Kawolics, retired Laurel Chemistry teacher and speech and debate coach, to co-author the piece.
The article examines how the introduction of implicit bias training has impacted gender based disparities in tournament outcomes. The article follows up on work originally started by Mr. Kawolics and Laurel Alum, Julia Lynn '19, approximately 10 years ago.
