Leslie K Segal ’95

Director of Middle School, Grades 6-8
Ms. Segal started at Laurel in 2013 when she moved home to Cleveland from Washington, D.C. She began her education career as an English teacher in the Upper School at Belmont Hill School, a boys’ school outside of Boston.

Following graduate school, Ms. Segal worked at Dartmouth College as a researcher and speechwriter for the College President and also as an application reader for the Admissions Office. Missing daily contact with students, Ms. Segal returned to the classroom to teach Middle School Social Studies and Humanities at Milton Academy in MA, The Nueva School in Hillsborough, CA, and Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C. where she was also Co-Chair of the History Department and Diversity Coordinator in the Middle School.

In addition to parenting four Laurel girls, Ms. Segal is a longtime yoga instructor. She teaches yoga and mindfulness to Middle School girls through both the electives and Health programs at Laurel.

After graduating from Laurel, she earned a B.A. in English and Art History from Dartmouth College, and an M.A. in American Civilizations at Brown University.
