Lauren Calig

Lauren Calig returned to Laurel in 2018 after 14 years at University School serving as the Coordinator for Equity and Inclusion and a Lower School Learning Specialist.

While there, she was given The William F. Seelbach Faculty Fellowship Award for her equity and inclusion work in the University School community.

At Laurel, Ms. Calig is the Director of Multicultural Curriculum and Co-Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging. She also serves on the Signature Programming Team. 

She holds a graduate certificate in Diversity, Social Justice and Inclusion from the University of Colorado’s Matrix Center and a Master’s Degree in Teaching from the University of Pittsburgh. She has published articles in DiversityIS, Independent School Magazine, and WellSchooled and was a contributing author in Teaching Beautiful Brilliant Black Girls. Ms. Calig has presented at The White Privilege Conference, National Association of Independent Schools, and the National Coalition of Girls' Schools.

Outside of Laurel, she works with schools and corporations facilitating discussions about diversity, equity, inclusion, parenting and race.
