Lauren Calig Addresses Civil Discourse in K-12 Classrooms in DiversityIS Magazine

Lauren Calig, Director of Multicultural Curriculum at Laurel, authored a piece in DiversityIS Magazine this month titled, "Creating and Guiding Opportunities for Civil Discourse in K-12 Classrooms".
In it Lauren states that the importance of learning to participate in civil discourse as a skill that when used effectively will enable students to be citizens of our global world. Lauren teaches across all grade levels at Laurel and has developed an age-appropriate curriculum that focuses on kindness and civility. "By starting the practice of civil discourse with our youngest learners, we are teaching them how to respectfully disagree. We are also teaching them there is value in another's point of view and that we can learn and grow from viewpoints different from our own." Click here to read the full story.
