In the feature Ann delves into the importance of STEM/STEAM and Laurel's work to level the playing field. She also highlights the need for staff and alumnae to be models for embracing creative risks and how risk and failure are a part of growth. In the story she states that, "We are a crucible where girls come of age and take their places in the world. We offer academics, of course, but beyond that we engender empathy and curiosity. Girls have to be strong and brave and willing to stand up. That's the work of a girls' school."
