Dr. Lisa Damour's Latest New York Times Piece on Why Teens Reject Parents' Solutions

Dr. Lisa Damour, Executive Director of Laurel's Center for Research on Girls, delves into why teenagers reject parents' solutions to their problems in her latest New York Times - Well-Health column.
Generally speaking, Dr. Damour suggests parents most often are not giving teens what they are really looking for. She goes on to highlight that consciously or not, kids are most often seeking a sounding board, empathy, a vote of confidence and ideas (versus instructions). "More often than not, offering our teenagers an ear, empathy and encouragement gives them what they came for."
In addition, Dr. Damour also offered up parenting advice on the CBS This Morning Podcast and joined the CBS This Morning team to discuss how teen friendships have an effect on adult relationships.
