Dr. Jessie Sun Talks About Virtual Learning During Pandemic in Crain’s Cleveland Business

Dr. Jessie Sun, Director of STEAM Engagement and Upper School Science Teacher, was recently featured in a Crain's Cleveland Business piece titled, "Local Schools Reflect on Lessons Learned from Operating During the Pandemic Shutdown."
In it she highlights ways in which Laurel continued to test hypotheses with online tools despite not having a traditional lab to work with as students would in school. She also touched on the creative ways she worked to get students engaged and involved in the learning process. For example, "instead of asking more traditional review questions, students were asked to create group videos in the style of a TikTok or Instagram challenge for a lesson on projectile motion." Dr. Sun also noted that "One of the lessons that I think has been so important is just how important a lot of our subtle interactions are."
