Leadership Opportunities Through Schools are Front and Center in Currents Magazine Story

Leighann DeLorenzo, Dean of Students for the Upper School, was recently included in a Currents Magazine piece centered on how students are actively engaged in becoming leaders in the community through various opportunities at school.

Leighann is quoted in the article saying, “Leadership plays a significant role in how we educate girls. We understand the primary principles of strong and effective leadership to be the ability to identify what is not working within a system, and the creative and strategic problem-solving necessary to catalyze change.” She goes on to say that “We do it best by creating multiple spaces in which to test their mettle. Whether in the lab, on the court, a speech and debate competition, or the theatrical stage, girls must inhabit those spaces with a sense of belonging and not one of negative questioning.” Leighann also touches on how Laurel pushes girls to advocate for themselves, their teams, their clubs, etc. Click here to read more.
