Laurel’s FIRST LEGO League Team the “Science Sisters” Win Big at Districts

Laurel's FIRST LEGO League Team, the Science Sisters, recently competed in the District tournament where they focused on three different parts - exhibiting Core Values, completing and presenting an innovative project and competing in the robot game by solving missions on the robot table.
The Science Sisters, who are led by Sarah McKeown, walked away with the Innovation Project Award, which means they were awarded best project at the tournament! The project had to solve a problem related to health and fitness. The Science Sisters created a running belt that would use sensors and an app to detect motion so people running while listening to music would be kept safe from cars. Their winning design has moved the team on to the Ohio State Championship tournament in May. Congratulations to Eve Belding '25, Hannah Garcia '27, Leah Stephany '26, Amelia Bravo '26, Clare Hess '25, Katie Izanec '25, Emily Vrabel '27 and Ella Witalec '25. The news of their win was written up in the Sun News and the Sun Press.
