Small but Mighty: Laurel Swimmers Finish Season Strong

The swim team ended a successful season with Sectionals and District competition. All four girls—Savannah Tidmore ‘25, Eliza Emmet ‘25, Madie Malbasa ‘24, and Eva Gross ‘25—had strong showings at the Sectionals at SPIRE, with many personal-best times.
Both relays dropped several seconds from their in-season competition times. The Sectional meet is among the most competitive in the state, and the girls rose to the challenge. Eva earned best times in the 50 and 100 free, and Madie, Savannah, and Eliza qualified for the District competition. The top 30 athletes across both Sectionals qualify for the Northeast District competition. Madie qualified in the 200 IM and 100 backstroke, Eliza qualified in the 100 free and 100 backstroke, and Savannah qualified in the 50 and 100 free.

At the District meet at Cleveland State University, Savannah and Eliza both dropped time. Savannah finished 20th in the 50 free (moving up ten spots!) and 19th in the 100 free. Eliza finished in an impressive 13th place in the 100 backstroke and 22nd in the 100 free. Both girls are sure to be excellent competitors in years to come.
