  • A Message from Primary School, Grades 3-5, Leadership

Dear Butler Third, Fourth, and Fifth Grade Families,

What a marvelous, memorable week we've shared! The spirit of our students was truly infectious, culminating in a wonderfully spooky day on Friday. It was a treat to see the girls embrace creativity and imagination, showing off their festive costumes with such excitement! Ending the day with the Halloween parade at Lyman Campus was a highlight, giving our students the special opportunity to meander through the hallways and delight in seeing their Primary and Middle School friends in costume.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to our incredible room parents, families, and the LSPA for planning such fun and memorable celebrations for the girls. Your effort and commitment to fostering a joyful community are deeply appreciated. We hope your upcoming weekend is filled with a few playful tricks and many delightful treats!

Thank you so much to everyone who attended our recent Butler Learning Celebrations in Grades 3-5. These events are truly hallmarks of the Butler experience, showcasing the depth of your daughter's inquiry and hands-on work. Your enthusiastic participation and support made them a magical success!

As we continue to focus on your daughter's growth, we look forward to our next opportunity to partner intentionally:
    • Student-Led Conferences: Please mark your calendar for Friday, November 7. These individual student-led conferences are a vital part of our school-home connection, providing a focused time to set goals, acknowledge progress, and collectively celebrate your daughter's learning journey.
We are so grateful for your active partnership in the Butler Campus experience. When we work together, our students thrive.

    Warmly,

    Shannon Lukz
Associate Director of Primary School, Grades 3-5 and Outdoor PreK

    Bella Patel
Director of Early Childhood and Primary Schools
  • Important Reminders:

    • Carline: Please pull past the crosswalk symbol so that students can safely get into cars with an adult assisting. We will load 2-3 cars at a time to maintain a safe and orderly dismissal line. Thank you!

    • Warm Butler Layers: Students should have the necessary uniform items at Butler to stay warm during the school day—sweaters or sweatshirts in solid white, navy blue, or forest green. Sweaters must be in a cardigan or crew-neck style with or without a Laurel logo. Laurel-branded sweaters or sweatshirts (including fleece) may also be worn as part of the uniform. Outdoor gear does not have to be a uniform color and should be sent with students daily, as we learn outdoors every day. Water-resistant or water-proof jackets and/or pants are a great addition to your daughter’s Butler gear! Please reach out if you have any questions or need help supporting your daughter as she dresses for colder weather at Butler!
  • Conference Sign-up for November 7

Primary conferences are student-led and an excellent opportunity for each student to practice her presentation skills. Teachers will help prepare the students for conferences by asking them to reflect on their own learning and school experience. They will focus on each student’s Ownership of Learning and setting personal and academic goals. Report cards will be posted to MyLaurel on November 4. To ensure these conferences are as meaningful as possible, we ask that parents come prepared by reviewing their child's report and thinking through a few questions to help guide the conversation.
Registering for conferences will happen via MyLaurel. Once you are logged in, click “Resources” on the top menu bar, then click the “Conference Registration” tile. This link provides more information about how to register. You will notice that this system allows you to see all your students’ conferences simultaneously so you can better coordinate signing up for multiple conferences.

Registration for conferences will close on Wednesday, November 5. If you need to change your time after that date, please contact Michelle Ramirez at mRamirez@LaurelSchool.org.

There are no classes on Friday, November 7, but students are expected to attend their conference.
