  • Q. How do I schedule a tour of Laurel School’s campuses?

    Individual and small group tours of both the Lyman Campus (Shaker Heights) and the Butler Campus (Novelty) are available during regular school hours and select weekdays after school.

  • Q. Is a classroom visit required for Upper School applicants?

    Yes, for students applying to the Upper School (Grades 9-12) for the upcoming academic year, a classroom visit is a mandatory part of the admissions process.

    These immersive days allow prospective students to experience campus life, sit in on classes, and meet current students and faculty.

  • Q. What testing is required of applicants?

    Applicants looking to enter Grades 5 through 12 are typically required to take the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE).

    Laurel School hosts multiple ISEE testing dates throughout the fall, winter, and spring at the Lyman Campus. See Admissions Events Calendar.
  • Q. When is Laurel's admissions application deadline?

    The official admissions and variable tuition application deadline for the 2026-2027 school year is January 15, 2027.
    Notification of Admissions acceptance, Variable Tuition and scholarships awards is February 11, 2027.

  • Q. Where are Laurel's two Northeast Ohio campus located?

    Laurel School operates two distinct campuses in Northeast Ohio, depending on grade level and activities:
    1. Lyman Campus (Main Building): Located at 1 Lyman Circle, Shaker Heights, OH 44122. This campus houses the Admissions Office, Early Childhood programs, Kindergarten-Grade 2, the Middle and Upper Schools, and administrative offices.
    2. Butler Campus: Located at 7420 Fairmount Road, Novelty, OH 44072. This expansive campus features the Ruhlman Family Center, outdoor education (OPK, Grades 3-5), athletics fields, tennis courts, yurts and fitness facilities.
  • Q. Where should Admissions visitors park at the Shaker Heights (Lyman) campus?

    Reserved parking spaces for Admissions visitors are conveniently located directly on the Main Entrance driveway, right by the front door.
    • The Main Entrance is easily identifiable by a flagpole and a low stone wall reading “Laurel School.”
    • Once inside the main double doors, the Admissions Office is immediately to your right.
  • Q. Where is Admissions visitor parking at Laurel's Butler Campus in Novelty, OH?

    Admission visitor parking at Butler is located at the Ruhlman Family Center.
    • When you enter the campus grounds from Fairmount Road, drive ¼ mile to the first parking lot on the right, across from Mary's Yurt.
    • Follow signage for the Ruhlman Family Center and its designated parking for Admissions visitors.
  • Q. How much is the annual tuition? Can I finance a Laurel education for my child?

    Annual tuition varies by age and grade level. Financing is called “Variable Tuition,” customized according to each family’s ability to contribute.
    • Early Childhood School tuition ranges from $10,750 to $25,875, depending on the number of days and if attending a half- or full-day program.
    • Kindergarten-Twelfth Grade tuition spans $27,500 to $45,015.
