Sarah Lyman Day of Community Service
Give back to your community while reconnecting with Laurel alumnae of all ages!
The annual Sarah Lyman Day of Community Service is a multi-city service event at which Laurel alumnae convene for a volunteer project held each fall.
For our 13th Sarah Lyman Day, we will collaborate with nonprofit organizations in Chicago, Cleveland, Columbus, New York City, and Washington, D.C.
Join fellow alums at Cradles to Crayons' Giving Factory warehouse and assist in processing and packaging donations of new and nearly new children's items and essentials for distribution to local disadvantaged children. Post-volunteer shift we will have lunch at Mi Fogata (Dutch treat)
Join other alums as we celebrate National Public Lands Day by pulling invasive plants and/or planting native plants at the No Mow Site in Shaker Heights at the corner of Lee Road and S. Park Blvd.
This activity is a partnership with the City of Shaker Heights' Sustainability Committee, the Doan Brook Watershed Partnership and the Nature Center at Shaker Lakes. Gloves and tools will be provided. Please wear comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty and closed-toed shoes. Bring a refillable water bottle and work/garden gloves if you want to wear your own.
Join other alums for a fun opportunity to give back and celebrate the hardworking volunteers of the Mid-Ohio Food Collective, the largest food bank in Ohio. We'll help run games like ring toss and cornhole and serve snacks, all to make the party a relaxing and festive occasion for the many volunteers who deliver over 170,000 meals to Ohioans every day. Please wear comfortable clothing and closed-toed shoes.
