Cradles to Crayons is a nonprofit organization that provides basic essentials --- clothing, backpacks, school supplies --- so that children in need can thrive at school and participate fully in life. Volunteers will help sort, organize, and pack donations. Volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes. The warehouse is not climate controlled so dress accordingly.
Join fellow alums at Cradles to Crayons' Giving Factory warehouse and assist in processing and packaging donations of new and nearly new children's items and essentials for distribution to local disadvantaged children. We will have donuts at 10:00 am at Cradles to Crayons and then after our volunteer shift the camaraderie will continue (everyone pays for their own lunch) at Coalfire Pizza, 3707 N Southport Ave, Chicago, IL 60613. If you have children's clothes or shoes in good condition to donate, you can bring those with you. Partners/children ages 4 and up are welcome to participate but must be registered.
After a tour, we will spend the morning gardening at the Ronald McDonald House Northeast Ohio. Volunteers should wear weather appropriate clothes and bring gardening gloves.
We will help support the various stations inside the Market, filling baskets, scanning groceries at the check-out stand, repackaging groceries into boxes after scanning and while our shift will be mostly indoors, we will need some volunteers to help deliver groceries to customer vehicles. So please wear weather-appropriate clothing. If there's a chance of rain, bring jackets and rainboots with you. There are some sitting positions available, but most involve standing/walking.Volunteers as young as 11 years old may join us as well as other family members.
