Get Involved!
Give back to your community while reconnecting with Laurel alumnae of all ages!
The annual Sarah Lyman Day of Community Service is a multi-city service event at which Laurel alumnae convene for a volunteer project held each fall.
For our 14th Sarah Lyman Day, we will collaborate with nonprofit organizations in Chicago, Cleveland, Columbus andNew York City.
Join fellow alums at Cradles to Crayons' Giving Factory warehouse and assist in processing and packaging donations of new and nearly new children's items and essentials for distribution to local disadvantaged children. After the volunteer shift continue the camaraderie at Coalfire Pizza, 3707 N Southport Ave, Chicago, IL 60613
In honor of National Public Lands Day, we will volunteer with the Nature Center at Shaker Lakes’ planting event at the Grow Not Mow Site # 2 on the corner of South Park Blvd. and Lee Rd. Help the efforts to make this area a better habitat for pollinators, wildlife and people. Our plantings will help absorb and filter stormwater runoff and prevent soil erosion. Bring gloves for planting trees and dress for the weather, rain or shine. All ages welcome. Please register with the Laurel Sarah Lyman Day link!
Help keep Columbus, Ohio's, oldest city park looking beautiful! We will help with weeding, watering, garden maintenance, litter pick-up, and more. Please wear weather-appropriate clothing and bring water, as we will be working outdoors. Feel free to BYO gloves and tools if you have them.
Goodale Park Shelterhouse (use Park St. driveway into the park and follow it until it dead-ends)
Join the Fort Tryon Park Trust, NYC Parks and fellow alums to dig in the dirt in Fort Tryon Park!
We will meet at the Broadway Greeting Garden at the Arden Street/Broadway entrance. Please wear long pants, sturdy shoes, and get ready to improve the park’s ecology by removing debris and helping site preparations. Tools and gloves will be provided but please bring a filled water bottle.
