Speech and Debate Takes on NSDA National Tournament
Laurel’s Speech and Debate team had an incredible showing at the 2026 NSDA National Tournament!
Julia Duong ’26 advanced to the Octafinal Round in Program Oral Interpretation, finishing 54th in the nation.
In United States Extemporaneous Speaking, Ana Rubio-Calvillo ’27 broke to the Semifinal Round and ultimately placed 13th in the nation, earning an automatic qualification to the 2027 National Tournament.
Also earning an automatic qualification, Hannah Rosenfeld ’27 and her World Schools Debate team finished 10th in the nation. With this achievement, Hannah becomes Laurel's first-ever four-time National Qualifier!
A huge shoutout to all of our national competitors, including Brooke Prengler ’28, Violet Vitale ’28, Rana Abdelhadi ’28, and McKenna Caver ’26, who proudly represented Laurel on the national stage.
