Theater Director Eugene Sumlin Featured in Cleveland Jewish News

Eugene Sumlin, theater director and Middle and Upper School performing arts teacher at Laurel, was included in a Cleveland Jewish News piece about performing arts programs at private schools.
In the story, Mr. Sumlin highlights that the goal is to create a well-rounded student. He says, "A lot of our students are not going to pursue arts as a profession, but you can use these skills later on, such as how to express your thoughts clearly and how to navigate through life."

Eugene also highlighted how theater can create opportunities for all students, including those who prefer to be behind the scenes. It can also be a fun stress reliever. "The way I approach the arts here, it gives [students] the opportunity to breathe and be themselves, be silly, laugh and be creative."
