Ana Rubio-Calvillo ’27 Published Piece on Legally Lawtino Substack

Ana’s article looks at how the use of AI, which cannot always distinguish misinformation from real news, undermines civic literacy and trust, and how a coherent reading policy with an emphasis on lifelong reading and literacy can offer an opportunity for informed civic participation in both Mexico and the United States. 

 

The topic of Ana’s piece stems from her Capstone Project, which began by identifying a need among middle schoolers in Ohio for literacy skills that instill and protect a love of reading. Through her research, Ana developed The Inventory, a 30-page curriculum of activities, resources and research that outlines a five-unit program designed to make reading fun. The curriculum became available this summer at Cuyahoga Public Library locations and Ana continues to advocate for policies that protect a love of learning.
