Holly Gleason ‘81 Nominated for 12 National Arts & Entertainment Awards

Laurel alumna and author and writer Holly Gleason ‘81, has been nominated for 12 National Arts & Entertainment Journalism Awards, including two for the HITS features “Country at a Crossroads” and “Grammy Chew: Country” according to HitsDailyDouble.com
Holly said, “Country and roots music are at several interesting pivots, with a lot more at stake than just who the next superstar will be. It's an honor to apply almost four decades of knowledge to contextualizing artists, analyzing trends not just in music but our culture—and trying to create an understanding between industry types of artists who aren’t their day-to-day reality while offering informed takes on the rising stars for anyone who loves music.”

Holly is currently promoting her new book with Kenny Chesney, HEART LIFE MUSIC. The book tour, in which she is participating with Chesney, begins November 1 at the Country Music Hall of Fame inductee’s alma mater, East Tennessee State University.

Holly was also featured this month in The Tennessean, where she delves into four decades of country music’s past, present, and future.
