Laurel Students Score Big on World Language National Tests

Congratulations to Lucy Marshall ’28, Emily Coley ’30, Jane Belding ’27, Claire Witalec ’27, and Mia Kwon ’28, who all received high marks on the National French, Latin, and Spanish exams.
Lucy earned the top score in the nation in the 2026 Le Grand Concours national French competition for French 2! Competing against 9,951 students across the country, she achieved the highest score in her division. Emily also scored big, earning a Gold Medal in the competition, which is organized by the American Association of Teachers of French (AATF). Emily previously earned a Silver Medal in 2025, making this year’s Gold Medal an impressive continuation of her achievement and dedication to French language study.
 
Jane earned a perfect score on the National Latin Exam, an accomplishment achieved by less than 1% of test-takers worldwide! She was awarded a Gold Medal and a Certificate for a Perfect Score in recognition of this incredible achievement

Claire and Mia both earned Gold Medals on the National Spanish Exam.
