About

Campuses and Directions

Our two-campus advantage gives girls the edge.
Laurel girls are in the right place at the right time.
At our Lyman Campus in Shaker Heights, Kindergarten, First and Second Graders begin their journey through Primary School. • Third, Fourth and Fifth Graders complete the Primary years just seven miles away at our 150-acre Butler Campus in Russell Township. • Girls return to the Lyman Campus for Middle and Upper School to embark on Sixth through Twelfth Grades.

While we benefit from being a two-campus school that provides flexible indoor and outdoor learning spaces, we are one school when it comes to our philosophical approach to our students.

Lyman Campus

Nestled in suburban Shaker Heights, the Lyman Campus was built in 1928 and covers 11 acres. Because much of our community shares one complex, our faculty and students delight in cross-divisional activities. Younger students find role models not only in the adults who guide and encourage them, but also in the older girls who assist their teachers, serve as their reading buddies and engage with them in after-school programming.

Lyman Campus Facilities: Lake Library for Early Childhood and Primary School • Crile Library Hub for Learning and Research for Sixth Grade-Twelfth Grade • Ruhlman Resource Center for Culture and Community • Two gymnasiums • Bouldering wall • Dance studio • Spacious multi-purpose room • State-of-the-art science labs for all divisions • 2D and 3D art studios, photography lab, and darkroom • Collaboratory for Design Thinking and STEAM initiatives • 350-seat Chapel Theater • Extensive outdoor play area

Laurel Upper School students and high school-aged girls from all over Northeast Ohio apply for admission into our semester-long Environmental Justice program. Girls in all divisions tackle Butler’s Project Adventure Course, a series of 15 high- and low-rope elements. Butler is also home to our Outdoor Prekindergarten class.
