David Meyer

Director of Athletics
Curriculum & Program Leadership Team
Mr. Meyer has served Laurel School as an educator and leader for a remarkable 25 years. A Canisius College graduate and Army veteran who served five years with the 10th Mountain Division, Mr. Meyer joined Laurel after teaching and coaching in Western New York.

In his early years at Laurel, Mr. Meyer taught Physical Education in Early Childhood through Upper School, and he was awarded the Conway Award for Teaching Excellence during this time. As Physical Education Department Chair, he developed Laurel's Project Adventure course and oversaw its implementation, faculty training, and school-wide programming.
In his 14 years leading Laurel’s Basketball program as Head Coach, Mr. Meyer was named Coach of the Year (2012) and he remains the winningest Basketball Coach in Laurel School history. He has also coached Varsity Volleyball, assisted with Softball and actively supports all teams and programming.

Mr. Meyer was named Director of Athletics in 2012 after six years as Assistant Athletic Director. He oversees 22 programs in the Middle and Upper Schools, as well as Youth Programming for Kindergarten-Grade 5. Under his leadership, Laurel’s Teams have achieved exceptional OHSAA success with 48 teams represented at States, 4 State Runners-Up, and 7 State Championships.

Mr. Meyer’s approach to Athletics emphasizes character development and personal growth, aligning with Laurel's mission of empowering young women to achieve their highest potential.
