Susan Bosland ’76, 2026 Distinguished Alumna
Susan Collins Bosland ’76 has built a notable four-decade career in education, serving as a teacher, coach, advisor, division director, and head of school — a career rooted in the confidence and leadership she first developed as a student at Laurel.
A graduate of Denison University with a degree in biology, she began teaching at Kingswood School Cranbrook and Newark Academy before moving into leadership roles, including Middle School Director at Newark Academy. She spent 27 years at Kent Place School, initially as the Middle School Director and then, for 18 years, as its Head of School. At Kent Place she oversaw transformative capital projects and the launch of an innovative Ethics Institute.
A respected national leader in girls’ education, she has served as President of The Heads Network and the New Jersey Association of Independent Schools and on multiple boards, including the National Coalition of Girls’ Schools (NCGS). She later returned to school leadership as Head of National Cathedral School during a pivotal period that included the COVID-19 pandemic, and will next serve as interim Head of School at Maret School. In recognition of her lasting impact on generations of students and her steadfast commitment to girls’ education, the Laurel School Alumnae Association proudly names her our 2026 Distinguished Alumna.

A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Indiana University, she earned her medical degree from the University of Cincinnati and is completing her residency at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. She will continue her training with a fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic.
