Lynnette Jackson Crenshaw '93

Field Hockey and Basketball/Gator SuperFan
Lynnette Jackson Crenshaw’s athletic career at Laurel was marked by dedication, resilience, and a love for competition that continues to define her today. As a student-athlete, she spent three years as the goalie on the varsity field hockey team and two years on the varsity basketball team, contributing her energy and leadership to both programs. She points to a standout moment Sophomore year when the field hockey team earned the remarkable opportunity to compete in the state semi-final game. The 1990 state semi-final banner that hangs in the Tippit Gym serves as a reminder of that team’s hard work, talent, grit and commitment.

Her talent, determination and leadership did not go unnoticed. She co-captained the field hockey team and was honored with the 1991 and 1992 All–Northeast Ohio Field Hockey First Team award, celebrating her as one of the top players in the region. She also was awarded the title of Most Valuable Defensive Player.

Her commitment to Laurel extends far beyond her athletic achievements. Ever since she entered in Sixth Grade, Lynnette has been a Laurel girl at heart who carries the school’s values into her daily life. At Hampton University majoring in marine and environmental science and in her professional career in private banking she has used the same discipline, teamwork, and perseverance she learned on both the field and the court. She approaches life as she would an athletic competition with preparation, optimism, and an infectious positivity. She also lives Laurel’s values through her commitment to service with several nonprofit organizations and at Laurel where has served as President of Student Government, as President of the Alumnae Association and as Chair of the Board of Trustees. The Alumnae Association named her its 2024 Distinguished Alumna. One of the Gators’ biggest fans, she supported the creation of the Jackson Johnson locker room, contributed to the development of the turf fields at Butler, and has been a dedicated supporter of the basketball program cheering from the stands for many years. Her generosity, leadership, and vision have helped strengthen Laurel for the next generation.
