Cleveland.com Says Gator Basketball Not the Underdogs Anymore

Laurel Girls Basketball is headed back to the OHSAA State Semifinals for the third straight year after an impressive regional win! As highlighted in this recent feature by Cleveland.com, the Gators have built a reputation for postseason success and resilience, showing once again that their playoff pedigree is no fluke.
Both Tristan Williams '26 and Nyla Edwards '27 were quoted in the story, with mentions about solid game-play and major contributions from Sydnee Robinson '26, Liv Schneider '26, Jordyn Meyer '27, and Reese Grammes '27.

“We kept growing as a team,” Williams said. “I know that the work that we put in, both me personally and as a team, has prepared us for this game. So really, it was us versus us. We weren’t even worried about the other team. That’s a great team, with great players, great coaches, but it was always us versus us.”

Nyla Edwards’ three-pointer in the third shifted the momentum of the game and helped the Gators take a solid lead.

“I had momentum. I hit one [three-pointer] in the first quarter,” Edwards said. “I came back, and I said, I’m going to keep shooting it every single time.’ So, I just kept leaning on my confidence.”
