Laurel Envirothon Team Wins Aquatics Category; Places 7th Overall

Laurel sent three teams to the Area 2 Envirothon competition. The team of Ashley Eggleston ‘25, Kaisa Strautnieks ‘26, Casey Higgins ‘27, and Katie Spellacy ‘28 won the Aquatics category and placed 7th overall out of 43 teams.

The second team, consisting of Mack Gilbert ‘27, Sofia Teresinski ‘26, Hannah Rosenfeld ‘27, Asal Mohammadi ‘27, and Anya Ustin ‘27, placed 13th out of 43 teams. The third team, consisting of Fara Latifi ‘25, McKeely Kemock ‘25, Claire Witalec ‘25, and Taya Offut Decker ‘27, placed 38th. This was the first year Laurel participated in this national environmental and resource conservation competition. Envirothon emphasizes problem-solving, teamwork, and leadership, fostering students' development of critical-thinking skills and encouraging them to propose solutions to environmental issues.
