Legacy for Laurel

Plan a gift for Laurel's future.

Membership in Legacy for Laurel is extended to all alumnae, parents, faculty and friends who make provisions in their estate plans to benefit the School and build the $50+ million endowment. Membership begins with the date of your commitment and it never ends. There is no minimum amount or percentage of estate that qualifies you for membership: only your desire to make a perpetual statement of support.

Bequest in a Will • Gift from a Trust • Charitable Gift Annuity • Charitable Remainder Unitrust • Charitable Remainder Annuity Trust • Designation as a Beneficiary of a Life Insurance Policy • Designation as a Beneficiary of a Retirement Plan or IRA*
*On Dec. 18, 2015, Congress reinstated the IRA Charitable Rollover Provision. The Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes Act of 2015 is legislation that includes a permanent extension of the IRA charitable rollover. Donors age 70 ½ or older can now make tax-free charitable gifts of up to $100,000 per year directly from their Individual Retirement Accounts to eligible charities, including colleges, universities and independent schools.

  • Transformational Giving

    It is safe to say that Barbara’s times at Laurel not only made an impact on her and her family, but also will impact future generations of Laurel girls for decades to come with her transformational estate gift totaling $4.6 million. A dedicated mother, volunteer and philanthropist, Barbara served Laurel in many capacities, including as a member of the Board of Trustees for 20 years, chairing the Development Committee and serving on the Executive Committee and the Building and Grounds Committee. Barbara also was an Honorary Chair of Laurel’s 125th Anniversary Celebration. She was presented with Laurel’s Distinguished Alumna Award in 2012 and was named Trustee Emerita in 2010.
