National Spotlight: LCRG on Girls in Town & Country

Laurel School is proud to be featured in the October 2025 issue of Town & Country Magazine in the article “Girls, Girls, Girls,” which explores the growing demand for all-girls education and the leadership, confidence, and purpose it cultivates. This recognition comes as the world celebrates the International Day of the Girl Child—a global reminder of the power and promise of girls everywhere.

The article highlights Laurel’s nationally recognized Center for Research on Girls (LCRG) and its pioneering philosophy of Civil Discourse, which equips students with the tools to extend empathy, accept discomfort, and engage courageously in challenging conversations. “To me, the hardest one is accepting discomfort,” said Kate Webb, Chair of Laurel’s English Department, in the piece. “Leaving the classroom knowing a person disagreed with me and maybe they don’t like me anymore can be really, really hard for students.”

Laurel’s inclusion alongside other leading girls’ schools underscores our commitment to preparing Laurel girls today to become the leaders of tomorrow.
