Summary: I started an organization called Bow Wow Bow Ties that raises awareness against puppy mills. I design, make, and sell a variety of bow ties for pets. All of my sales are donated to Bailing out Benji, a non-profit that fights against puppy mills across the US.

Capstone gave me the freedom to explore my interests and to create a project that was meaningful. This experience has been significant to me as a student and as a person. I have always had a passion for animal welfare. Moreover, I am a very creative person, so I decided to continue advancing my non-profit business, Bow Wow Bow-Ties, which I created in eighth grade. This enabled me to utilize my artistic side, while also learning about many aspects of a small business.

The part of being an entrepreneur that I enjoyed most was connecting with people and animals. I attended countless fairs, pop-up stands, pet stores, fundraisers, venues, and shelters to expose my product to different audiences. I made an Instagram account to promote my business and printed themed flyers that complimented the design of the bows. I always brought posters with pictures of puppy mills, and I handed out pamphlets with up-to-date statistics.

Over the past five years, I have talked to countless people, answering their questions, sharing concerns, and met dogs that have been rescued from puppy mills. I am very proud of the work I have been able to do through Capstone to raise awareness and money for my cause, totaling over $1,000. All of the proceeds are donated to a Bailing Out Benji which fights against puppy mills across the country. I plan to continue my support and work for animal welfare in college.
