After School and Music Academy

Laurel School offers enriched, supervised after-school care, music lessons and specialty classes for children in Early Learners through Eighth Grade.

  • Supervised Play | M–F | Early Learners–Grade 5

    FOR: Early Learners–Grade 5
    DATES:
    August 24, 2022–June 1, 2023
    WHEN: Monday–Friday, 3:00–6:00 PM
    LOCATION: Lyman Campus
    COST:
    • $2,700 for full-time (annual plan)
    • $1,750 for 3 days/week (annual plan)
    • $1,350 for 2 days/week (annual plan)
    • $875 for 1 day/week (annual plan)

    Research shows that childhood play is linked to coping skills and creativity, so we encourage our students to play after school!

    Supervised Play meets in the Primary and Early Childhood classrooms, nearby our beautiful playgrounds and spacious Multipurpose Room.

    Students have an after-school snack each day. They spend most of their afternoons outside or may go to a classroom where they can read, do crafts, and play quiet games. Age-appropriate activities are facilitated by staff, including homework time as needed.

    IMPORTANT INFORMATION
    • Supervised Play is only available on days when school is in session for a full day. There is no Supervised Play on the last day of School.
    • The drop-in fee is $35/day; parents should email bSmith@LaurelSchool.org before the drop-in to ensure there is space for their child that day.
    • Monthly enrollment is available at a rate of $415/month. Email bSmith@LaurelSchool.org to enroll your child.
    • Pick-up for all After School students is in Laurel’s Early Childhood Circle. Please call 216-455-0153 to have your child escorted to the Early Childhood door.
    • A late pick-up fee of $25 will be levied in 15- minute increments past 6:00 p.m.

  • Middle School Homework Room | M–F | Grades 6–8

    DATES: August 24, 2022–June 1, 2023
    DAY: Monday–Friday, 3:00–6:00 PM
    PRICING:
    • $2,300 for full-time (annual plan)
    • $1,650 for 3 days/week (annual plan)
    • $1,250 for 2 days/week (annual plan)
    • $775 for 1 day/week (annual plan)
    LOCATION: Lyman Campus

    The Middle School Homework Room is a supervised comfortable environment for students to complete homework, enjoy a snack and a good book, or play a relaxing game with a friend. 

    IMPORTANT INFORMATION
    • The Homework Room is only available on days when school is in session for a full day. There is no Homework Room on the last day of school.
    • The drop-in fee is $30/day; parents should email bSmith@LaurelSchool.org before the drop-in to ensure there is space for their child that day.
    • Pick-up for all After School students is in Laurel’s Early Childhood Circle. Please call 216-455-0153 to have your child go to the Early Childhood door.

  • Music Academy | Tu–Th | Pre-K–Grade 12

    FOR: PreKindergarten–Grade 12
    DATES:
     Begins September 13, 2022

    DAY: Tuesday–Thursday, 3:30–6:00 PM
    PRICING:
    • $1,100 for weekly 30-minute lessons*
    • $1,650 for weekly 45-minute lessons*
    • $2,200 for weekly 60-minute lessons*
    LOCATION: Lyman Campus
    RECITALS: December 6, 2022 and May 8, 2023, both at 5:00 PM.

    The Music Academy is a year-long after-school program. Through the Music Academy, Laurel students and members of the community may sign up for weekly private music instruction. The program consists of 30 private lessons and two recitals. All lessons take place at Laurel’s Lyman Campus between the hours of 3:30 and 6:00 PM. Laurel students may attend Supervised Play or the Middle School Homework Room free of charge prior to their lesson time.
     
    Laurel School Music Academy offers private instruction in the following instruments:
    • Viola (choose traditional or Suzuki instruction)
    • Violin (choose traditional or Suzuki instruction)
    • Flute and Recorder
    • Piano
    • Voice

    * There is an additional $50 enrollment fee. Enrollment for Music Academy is for the full year or by semester. The prices above reflect the full-year cost.

    Lesson slots are filled by instructors on a first-come, first served basis. The deadline to enroll for the Fall Semester of Music Academy is September 5, 2022.

  • Adventure Girls | Tu | Grades 3–5

    FOR: Grades 3–5
    DATES:
    September 13th–November 15th, 2022
    WHEN: Tuesdays, 3:155:00 PM
    LOCATION: Butler Camus
    INSTRUCTORS: Shannon Lukz, Dale Versteegen & Chuck Allen
    COST: $400 for 10 classes including field trip + one overnight campout
    MAX ENROLLMENT: 25

    Adventure Girls is filled with immersive activities that are designed to cultivate resilience, strength and courage in girls, primarily through outdoor exploration and fun-filled adventures. Activities include nature hikes, bicycle rides, a day of climbing and swinging on the ropes course, an adventure-packed field trip and a Friday overnight campout at Laurel’s Butler Campus (date forthcoming).

    One of our 10 sessions will be a late-September field trip. Pickup will be at 6:00 PM (date forthcoming).

  • Little Racquets Tennis | Tu | PK–Grade 2

    FOR: PreKindergarten–Grade 2

    • K–2: 3:50-4:30 PM

    Little Racquets is a tennis workshop and skill-building academy that fosters improved coordination and balance, and builds confidence in athletics overall.

    Students will be given a snack as part of supervised play prior to the start of the class.

    Pickup will be at the Early Childhood Doors at 4:45 PM unless the student is otherwise enrolled in after school care on Tuesdays.

    • Snapology | Th | K–Grade 2

      FOR: Kindergarten–Grade 2
      DATES: September 8th–October 20th, 2022
      WHEN: Thursdays, 3:45–4:45 PM
      LOCATION: Lyman Campus
      INSTRUCTORS: Snapology of Cleveland
      COST: $125 for 7 sessions
      MAX ENROLLMENT: 12

      Snapology’s mission is to provide children an opportunity to engage in “playful learning” activities that will stimulate their creativity and spark an interest in learning, particularly in the STEM fields.

      Previous sessions of Snapology have seen students use LEGOs to create fanciful stories and tell them using stop-motion animation techniques or explore the world of Harry Potter through the building of castles, kingdoms, and robotic catapults.

      Students will be given a snack as part of supervised play prior to the start of the class.

      Pickup will be at the Early Childhood doors at 4:45 PM unless the student is otherwise enrolled in after school care on Thursdays.

      SNAPOLOGY REGISTRATION
    After School and Music Academy classes begin at dismissal and end at 6:00 p.m. on days when school is in session.
