Kathryn Purcell has been at Laurel School since August 1996. During that time, she has served as a member of the science department, a coach, an advisor, and in an array of administrative positions, ...
...including Dean of Students for the Upper School, Associate Director of the Upper School, Co-Director of the Upper School, Assistant Head of School and Director of Enrollment Management and now Associate Head of School. In that capacity, she leads strategic initiatives across the school, supervises multiple departments, and manages the curriculum committee of the school. She sits on several Board of Trustee committees.
Mrs. Purcell was the recipient of the Virginia Beidler Neff ‘29 Award for teachers who demonstrate excellence and potential in the classroom within their first three years of teaching at Laurel and The Mary French Conway '46 Award for Teaching Excellence at Laurel School. She is an alumna of Laurel School and a Laurel parent. Outside of Laurel, she has served on the One Schoolhouse Board since July 2012. Her past roles on that Board include: Consortium Relations Chair, Treasurer and Secretary. She currently serves as President of the Board. Mrs. Purcell regularly attends regional and national conferences and has presented at several conferences, including NAIS and OAIS. In the summer, she co-teaches an online professional development course called “Introduction to Girls’ School.”
