Jane Reinschreiber Walker '74
Director of Pre-Primary
Mrs. Walker has worn many hats at Laurel School including student, faculty member, administrator, parent and grandparent. A graduate of Laurel School, she graduated from Smith College with a B.A. in Sociology.
She joined the faculty of Laurel School in 1986 and taught Pre-Kindergarten for many years before she left the classroom to become the Director of the Pre-Primary in 2004. She cares deeply about the social, emotional and cognitive development of young children. Since she began as Director of the Pre-Primary, the program has expanded to include the Outdoor Pre-Primary, two Early Learner classes for our youngest learners ages 18 to 36 months and the Eco!Wonder program which is an environmental education curriculum for young children that was written by the Pre-Primary faculty.
Mrs. Walker has had articles published in both PreK Today and Independent School Magazine. Outside of school, she enjoys traveling, reading, gardening and other creative pursuits. She has two daughters, both of whom graduated from Laurel, Tyler Thornton ’99 and Meghan Thornton Parquette ’01. Her granddaughter entered Laurel this year as a member of the Early Learner Class as a fifth generation Laurel girl.
