Nicole Franks

Director of Early Childhood School
Ms. Franks started at Laurel in 2010 when she moved home to Ohio from Washington, D.C. She began her education career as a Preschool teacher in the heart of downtown Chicago.

Following graduate school, Ms. Franks explored the field of social work and quickly found her way back to the classroom. She worked as a literacy research assistant in Chicago Public Schools and then as a classroom teacher at the Smithsonian Early Education Center located in the National Museum of Natural History. Throughout her tenure at Laurel Ms. Franks has taught Fourth Grade, Kindergarten and Early Learners. 
 
In addition to parenting two Laurel girls, Ms. Franks enjoys traveling and cooking meals with her family. She revels in children’s literature and long walks around Shaker Heights. 
 
Ms. Franks earned an undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education from Bowling Green State University and her Master’s degree in Child Development from Erikson Institute in Chicago.
