Claire Leland ‘26 Featured in WKYC Story

Claire Leland '26 was featured in a WKYC Channel 3 story about her Laurel Capstone Project, a non-profit organization called Celiac Support Collective (CSC). Through her organization, Claire, who herself was diagnosed with Celiac disease at a young age, provides gluten-free food donations to local food pantries.
In the story, Claire discussed how she launched CSC as part of her Capstone project, which allows students to delve in-depth into a topic that interests them. Students work with a mentor and develop their passion into a project. “I knew going into it right away that I wanted my topic to be about celiac,” she said. “This year, I decided I wanted to donate to food banks, to food pantries. I spent a lot of time expanding my network and getting to know the greater community.”

“When I’ve toured, I’ve been told they have customers that come in and there’s no food for them,” Claire continued. “It’s very, very important that they have the supplies and the foods that will help them live a happy life.”
