Four Laurel Speech & Debate Students Qualify for State Tournament

It has been a busy and successful December for Laurel’s Speech and Debate team!
On December 3 the team participated in the Olmsted Falls Tournament, along with Laurel’s Middle School team, and they took fourth place overall with several individual honors and bids for the State Tournament. On December 11 the team competed at Vermilion and found more success! See below for highlights from both competitions.

Julia Duong is a Ninth Grade student new to Laurel and to Speech and Debate, and she earned her first ever bid at the North Olmsted tournament followed by a second bid in Vermilion. Ella Witalec ‘25, Esther Ling ‘23, Becky Walker ‘23 and Madison Orlando ‘23 are all now State qualifiers! The season is only halfway over and we look forward to much continued success from all the competitors!
