PSAT/NMSQT

The PSAT/NMSQT (National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) is administered to all Ninth, Tenth and Eleventh Graders in mid-October at Laurel. The School registers all students for the PSAT. The test takes approximately two hours and fifteen minutes, includes sections on critical reading and math, and includes the same type of multiple-choice questions as the SAT.
Each section of the PSAT/NMSQT is scored on a 20 to 80 scale. The PSAT, taken in Ninth and Tenth Grades, is used to provide practice and gain feedback on strengths as well as areas for improvement. In Eleventh Grade, the PSAT provides practice and is the qualifying test used by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation to determine eligibility for National Merit Scholarships, National Achievement Scholarships and National Hispanic Scholars.
