DEIB Co-Directors Highlight the importance of teaching from a Global Perspective in Cleveland Magazine Story
Candace Maiden, Dean of Upper School Students and Co-Director of DEIB and Lauren Calig, Director of Multicultural Curriculum and Co-Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (DEIB), highlighted the many ways in which Laurel teaches a global perspective in this recent Cleveland Magazine piece.
Using a DEIB lens, the curriculum might focus on the differences and commonalities of people from around the world with a deep dive into immigration in Primary School or focusing on the global news headlines in an Upper School class called "Perspectives". In the story, Candace states that "We see how information in the media is shared in different countries and allow our students to look at news in a broader way."
