Angela Yeager Highlights Changemaker Scholarships in Cleveland Jewish News
Angela Yeager, Director of Laurel's Environmental Justice Program, was featured in a recent Cleveland Jewish News story where she highlighted the new Environmental Justice Semester Changemaker Scholarship.
The scholarship will cover 50% of tuition and will be available to eligible 10th and 11th Grade students joining the program from neighboring schools. In the story Angela states, “We believe, by offering scholarships, it will invite students who may be considering applying but are concerned about the cost. Environmental justice has equity at its core and the Changemaker Scholarships seek to remove barriers for qualified students to attend the program so that a variety of student experiences and perspectives are represented in our program.”
Angela was also featured in a Q&A with Teaching Cleveland in March where she highlighted the importance of connecting students to local history and issues, and how Teaching Cleveland has impacted her own teaching. She says, "Teaching Cleveland is doing an amazing job providing resources and instruction to help us educators. We recently had a group of high schoolers from Laurel School participate in the Teaching Cleveland Student Challenge (TCSC) and they all walked away with a greater appreciation of the history of Cleveland and feeling a little more responsible for its future. I appreciate the way history is presented in context along with science and social justice issues."
