Margot Luria ’20 and Olivia Wenzel ’20 Take First and Second at Teen Pitch Night

The week of November 18 was Global Entrepreneurship Week in Cleveland and Laurel students Margot Luria ’20 and Olivia Wenzel ’20 both took part by participating in Teen Pitch Night in Hudson on Thursday, November 21.
The event, which was a “Shark Tank” style event with judges from the local entrepreneurship community, was sponsored by the Burton D. Morgan Foundation and Hudson Library. Students had the opportunity to pitch their business idea in front of the judges.

Margot pitched her idea for an audio study guide called Text Saver. Initially pitched during Laurel’s own Shark Tank event last Spring, Margot further developed her idea over the summer at an entrepreneurship program called Quarter Zero and the revised product allows students to create podcasts of their class notes, making it easy to study while driving or exercising. Text Saver took first place at the event!

Olivia came in an impressive second place at the Teen Pitch Night competition after wowing the judges with her business plan for AltruTec, LLC, which uses Virtual Reality to provide Reminiscence Therapy to dementia patients. Congratulations to these two entrepreneurs for their incredible work in developing these winning business plans and successfully pitching them to a tough panel of judges!
